David Nyemah - "Reflection of Self"
This piece explores the restrictive landscape of masculinity defined by the cultural maxims "B33ma nsu" and "nuu fooo." It challenges the societal mandate that equates manhood with emotional suppression, forcing men to endure grief, anxiety, and pain under the hollow guise of stoicism. By deconstructing the "ego be" mentality, the work asserts that vulnerability is not a mark of inadequacy but a fundamental human response. It rejects the notion that silence is strength, instead positing that true maturity is found in the courage to acknowledge one’s emotions. To feel is not to be less of a man; it is to be human.
