"Hail Mary" was inspired by the contrasting behaviors of Chrystabel's grandmother, who she saw acting very differently in church in comparison to her home life. The artwork highlights the duality between her public display of faith and the private actions that contradict it. Through this contrast, the piece explores themes of hypocrisy, questioning the gap between outward appearances of religious devotion and the realities of personal conduct.
